Summer is a time for...Senior Theatre

Bonnie's Column

Summer is here and it's a time when many Senior Theatre companies take a break from performing. So, what are you going to do during your down time? Use summer to do the tasks you've procrastinated, like:

  • Clean, sort, and discard costumes and props
  • Organize files
  • Clean your desk, office, and working area
  • Write grants
  • Read plays, select your season.

Of course, take a break and breathe while you imagine another super season!

Yours in Theatre,

Bonnie Vorenberg, ArtAge President

Save your place at the
Vintage Improv Festival

Apply to be part of the The Vintage Improv Festival at ImprovBoston. It’s the world’s first festival of improvisation celebrating comedic performers over the age of 50. On Sunday, September 9, you can be in the spotlight along with improvisors from all over, take workshops led by Boston’s best improv instructors, and of course perform at New England’s biggest and oldest comedy theater. We’re seeking performers who have some formal improv training, have a desire to develop their skills, and collaboratively strengthen the community of over-50 improvisers.

Submissions to participate run until June 20th. See more details at

The Paradise Players share the fun of Senior Theatre!

Spring is a time for Senior Theartre companies to take to the stage. We have so many of our plays being performed in locations around the US, Canada, England, Australia and other sites. Here are just a few of the plays:

The Paradise Players performed The Stick-Up and High School Reunion. They also staged A Slight Misunderstanding and Lunch with Eddie from the best selling book, Age on Stage®: Comedies for Readers Theatre Volume 1.

The Rianda House Readers Theater performed The Prize, Canine Contact, and in the above photo, Blind Date.

Casserole Casanova was staged in Florida. Audience members said, "It was the best play the group had ever performed!"

Most of the above shows are available as e-scripts. Save $5 on e-scripts until June 29!

It's sometimes hard to know which play to choose, so feel free to contact us for help making selections!

Great idea:
Turn your passion into a book

Norm Coleman is has given life to the baseball legend, Ty Cobb. First, in a one-person show, The Greatest Player Who Ever Played Baseball, and now in his new book. Norm has performed at the Gerald R. Ford Library in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Ty Cobb Museum in Royston, Georgia, the Masonic Temple in Detroit, and in many other cities across America and Canada. From the beginning, his shows have been a huge success. They’ve been warmly received everywhere they have been staged. You don’t have to be a baseball fan to appreciate this entertaining, humorous, historic show frequently called “A walk down memory lane in baseball and American history.”
You have done a great job with your play and you have always done it with a great deal of passion. David Dombrowski, President of Baseball Operations, Boston Red Sox
