Roots&Branches Theater is an intergenerational ensemble that uses theater and performance to build understanding and respect between generations; celebrate the wisdom, energy and creativity of elders; and challenge stereotypes about age and aging. Actors from ages 12 to 90 collaborate each season on an original play based on the stories, life experiences and imaginations of the ensemble members. The plays are presented to under-served audiences at senior centers, community centers and schools, as well as Off-Broadway for the general public.
All performances include post-performance dialogue between R&B artists and audience members. R&B also offers intergenerational, life story, and ensemble acting workshops to schools, conferences and community groups.
Founded in 1990 by Arthur Strimling, Roots&Branches has created and performed more than 20 original plays.
