    20 minute comedy
When the rabbi’s wife unexpectedly walks out on him, three determined women in the congregation vie to win the rabbi’s heart–and a marriage proposal–the old-fashioned way: through his stomach. They shower him with trumped-up religious questions, meal invitations, and all kinds of food. What they don’t bargain for is that the woman who ultimately wins the rabbi’s affection is someone who hasn’t tried any tactics at all. The play’s universal appeal has made this comedy a hit at community centers, retirement communities, and everywhere it’s been performed.

As a long-time director, actor, and founder of a Senior Theatre, it’s easy to recommend Barbara Trainin Blank’s “How to Marry the Rabbi.” The show is humorous and insightful with universal situations, well-drawn characters, and lively dialogue. Whenever I’ve directed the play, in many different venues, it’s always been a lot for fun for actors and audiences alike. Frances Horkowitz
