Bonnie's column: So honored
to be named a "Trail Blazer"...twice!
|
|
Bonnie L. Vorenberg
|
The theme for this year's Older American's Month is to "Blaze
a Trail." So, it was an honor to have the Administration on Aging
name me as a "Trail Blazer" for the innovative work I've done in
my 30+ years in Senior Theatre.
Then, a few days later, the National Center of Creative
Aging also named me as a "Trail Blazer." Here's what they
said:
Since discovering Creative Aging in 1978, Bonnie Vorenberg
has worked tirelessly to create opportunities for older artists to act,
write, and produce their work through Senior Theatre programs. She has
led the Senior Theatre field in writing one of the first theses on the
field, creating the first talent agency for seniors, and publishing a
catalog of over 400 plays. Known by her colleagues as "The Guru of
Senior Theatre," Bonnie says that "Senior Theatre has
fulfilled my creativity, fueled my passion, and enabled me to help
generations of older actors."

career.
I am so grateful to be recognized for my life's passion.
But, even more important is how grateful I am for you, my friends,
colleagues, and customers who support our valuable work. Thank you.
Yours in theatre,
Bonnie Vorenberg, ArtAge President

Group of the Month: The Last
Best Geri-Actors
|
|
Their popular Mr. E’s
Radio Spiritz Show
|
The Last Best Geri-Actors of Bozeman, MT, is a busy bunch!
One of the few Senior Theatres in Montana, the LBGA is based in the
Bozeman Senior Center as a readers theatre group.
In the last two years, they have done three dinner
theatres and three community shows, with one being at the invitation of
The Museum of the Rockies. They also performed over thirty outreach
shows, sometimes traveling as much as thirty miles between two
performances in one day.
Ranging in ages from 60 to 93, members of the LBGA
delight in bringing smiles to the over 1,000 audience members who they
have entertained. The group is so popular, it already has bookings for
next year. Watch for them at state conferences of The Daughters of the
American Revolution and at The Montana Ghost Town Preservation Society.
