Since 1992, The Autumn Players has served as the community outreach of Asheville Community Theatre which has been operating since 1946 in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, a vibrant arts community. We are a volunteer-driven company of over 50 seasoned actors, directors, writers and event organizers dedicated to taking the theatre experience into the community.
From our growing repertoire of classic and contemporary skits and plays, we have entertained thousands throughout Western North Carolina and beyond. Two or three times a week, a troupe can be found providing entertainment, enrichment and education for students, seniors and in-betweens at venues within an hour or more from Asheville. All performances are readers theatre.
Programming is currently organized into five segments:
- bimonthly meetings -- read new material, conduct some business and socialize
- community programs -- for adults, mostly seniors
- playreading for pleasure -- meet monthly sans audience
- poetry for care facilities -- selections vary monthly
- schools programs -- adapted classics for K - 12

"What a blast! The performance yesterday was so interesting, funny, and insightful. Hearing the different voices made it so engaging. We are definitely excited about having this for our Musical Feast." Joyce
"Many people spoke with me at and after lunch to say how much they enjoyed our presentation." Rene
