THE NUTS AND BOLTS ABOUT ROYALTIES

What are royalties: Royalty is a fee that pays the playwright for their creativity and hard work. Any time a copyrighted piece of theatrical work is presented in front of a group, in either a staged or read piece, a royalty fee is required.

Royalties are due regardless of the size of the audience or whether or not an admission fee is charged. It is also due if the performing group is sponsored or housed in a for-profit or non-profit organization or if it only caters to older adults.

ArtAge royalties: Our rates are affordable. The royalty is listed on the copyright page, inside each play and collection.

How to pay royalties: Royalties are payable two weeks prior to the performance by credit card, check, money order, PayPal, and purchase order. Click here for the Royalty Payment Form.

You must insert in your programs:

“This production was made possible by the ArtAge Senior Theatre Resource Center, www.seniortheatre.com, 800-858-4998.”

WARNING: Performances that take place without a royalty payment violates Federal Copyright Law and are subject to penalties. The ArtAge penalty for non-payment of royalties is double the royalty amount plus $300.

Questions: Feel free to contact us with questions. Call 503-246-3000 or toll free, 800-858-4998 or contact us by email.
