Azalea Jackson lives on a rural dairy farm is upstate New York. Her greatest joy is to someday plant a flower garden but her controlling husband Chuck thinks flowers are decadent and a waste of time. For many years Azalea has been the victim of his alcoholism and lives in constant fear of his violent outbursts. When her older sister Cora Tompkins, a hard working free spirit visits bringing an innocent gift of potted flowers, it sparks a chain of events that change both of their lives forever. Together the sisters face the repressed tragedies of their past. By confronting their fears, the sisters find a creative way to end the cycle of abuse and find the courage to begin a new life. Touching on themes of domestic violence, poverty and the plight of older women who are forced to become the primary caretakers of their grandchildren, Stolen Flowers is a powerful and inspirational drama. Stolen Flowers allowed me to experience sisterly love for the first time; deepen my understanding of my mother, Fern's passion for flowers; and , as an actress, explore the journey from denial, to heartwrenching confrontation, to eventual sweet revenge. - Ann Grilli As an actress, my experience performing Stolen Flowers was up there in my top five favorite performance experiences. I actually had the pleasure of performing both sisters at various times. They are wonderfully flesh and bones female characters. Audience reactions and post-show comments were always very positive. GARDEN OF ENTANGLEMENTS 1man, 1 woman In 1945, Pilar was a beautiful French Cabaret singer during the war. In a smoky jazz club she meets Allen, a trumpet player with the army band. Their passionate love affair flourishes and after the war, Allen brings Pilar back to the United states to be his wife. After 40 years of being the perfect wife, Pilar falls into a deep depression when she realizes that her once vibrate life has wilted away. At present, her screenplay Chickadee that she co-wrote with her brother, Tom Ecobelli, is in preproduction and slated to start filming. It will star Oscar winning actors Chris Cooper and Ellen Burstyn and Emmy award winner, Julie Kavner.
