NEW! AGE ON STAGE®: COMEDIES FOR READERS THEATRE Volume 2 Drena Heizer Ten 10-minute comedies
Here it is-Book Two from the author of the first best-selling Age on Stage: Comedies for Readers Theatre. Open to any page in this book and you will find quirky characters in humorous situations, and that's why these short comedies are so much fun for both actors and audiences.
For example, we've all had annoying restaurant experiences but none quite like the one Marge encounters in Lunch With Eddie. TV judges are lampooned in the ludicrous Courtroom Capers, and Mother Goose characters turn up in ridiculous roles in Law And Disorder. An amateur theatre group stumbles through a mystery play, airline passengers experience a strangely unusual journey, and a department store Santa Claus gets an unwelcome surprise. These funny adventures and many others are included in this intriguing collection of ten 10-minute comedies. Large Print

SCROOGE WITH A TWIST Martha McMillen 1 man, 6 women, plus 12 either in flexible cast 40-minute musical plus carols Royalty: $25
Scrooge with a Twist is a delightful retelling of the beloved Christmas story which indeed has many twists. These funny, unexpected turns in the story combined with some audience participation make it fresh and entertaining piece for any audience.
The play revolves around an actor who comes to auditions to play the part of a really “bad guy.” He finds out that he isn’t that type at all and though the narrator prods him to be “bad,” it’s just not possible. What makes the show unique is that is performed in readers theatre style with some audience participation. the format combines familiar Christmas carols, a Greek chorus, and the usual “Scrooge” characters.
I highly recommend “Scrooge with a Twist!” Georgia Hamilton Silvertones, Music Director, Wheaton Park District

4 men, 5 women, plus 2 young adults, 1M/1W 60 minute comedy Royalty: $20

Can they do all this and still finish their teddy bear project on time? And what if the Center’s nasty director discovers the fugitives?
This is a holiday play that’s filled with typical Senior Center characters. Some are caring and loving while others are pretentious and snippy. The situation pulls them all together so that the holiday season is good for everyone.
