Directing Senior Theatre

The Senior Theatre Resource Center

Bonnie L. Vorenberg's Top 10 Directing Tips

for

Senior Theatre

  1. Always do warm-ups before each rehearsal and before all performances.
  2. Give direction from a positive point of view.
  3. Challenge, stimulate and don’t make it to hard. Make it art!
  4. Find great material that fits the cast. Build a library.
  5. Embellish the show with props, costumes and scenery pieces.
  6. Use Readers Theatre and Script-In-Hand if the cast can’t memorize. Memorize if  possible.
  7. Do more than one form of Senior Theatre.
  8. Give a lot of hugs and personal care in an atmosphere of creativity.
  9. The director chooses the show. There is only one director, sit in the house to feel what your audience feels.
  10. HAVE FUN!
